Introduction
Over the last twenty five+ years I have had many varying IT
(Information Technology) roles and as a result I have developed a high level
of intelligence; wisdom, insight, common-sense and understanding of many
aspects of the IT industry.
My experience over the years, as the owner of two
companies, manager,
employer and employee also enable me to understand the importance of
effective, timely, cost-efficient and user-friendly systems to businesses
managers and employees alike.
I have experience in a large range of
software applications. I am a lateral and creative thinker using my
expertise to trouble-shoot, analyze and problem-solve. I am competent in all
phases of the software development cycle, from the conceptual idea through
to practical systems.
As a writer and a trainer, I also have
great written and communication skills and whilst technically qualified I
have the ability to take technical language and transform this into everyday
language that all people can relate too.
My specialty is database design and
development with a preference for Microsoft, but I am equally strong in the
areas of project management, spreadsheet design and coding, web development,
presentation design and graphics in PowerPoint and Word electronic
documentation and automation.
I have a huge amount of experience in a
large variety of projects from small database solutions to large web based
solutions, harnessing the power of internet technology to make smart
information systems, with global access.
My goal is to impart my knowledge
successfully to others and show them how to create systems which allow

"Some of you may be aware that there
are currently some national Health and Safety awards being run by Safeguard
and OSH. These are going to be awarded next week at the Work safe expo in
Auckland. Approximately two months ago I entered Logic for one of theses
awards. The category was for Best Health and Safety initiative by a small
business.
What I entered was our database which
we use to record and monitor all of the results from the various audits we
conduct. This enables us to show our clients their contractor’s performance
over a set period of time or at an individual level.
Last week we were notified that we had
made it through as a finalist for this award. There are two
other finalists. They are MDL Harvesting in Taupo, and Training and Quality
Services in Napier. I will be traveling to Auckland next Thursday to attend
the awards presentation in the hope that we may win.
I want to take the time to thank Cathi
Barker from Software Solutions in Rotorua, who has developed this database to
meet our needs. In addition, to thank the Forestry staff at JNL
Gisborne for there input to fine tune the database. I will let
you know how we get on at the awards when I return."

Can you let me know when you are going to do some more work on the database
and I will email you the latest version before you do so. I have updated my
letters in the letter generator, added a couple of fields, written a couple
of new reports and added some more products.
Thank you for getting version 3 back to
me so soon and working over the weekend. I can’t begin to describe the
impact it is having on our business having this information organised in
such a way that we can access it (no pun intended) and record our customer
requests from the very first meeting.
Right now we are employing another two
sales people and a financial controller, their jobs all revolve around the
systems we are building with this database. I see this giving me the ability
to take this company to the next level with the level of controls that are
required to manage a building company effectively.
